The challenge
Taberna del Alabardero — one of Washington D.C.’s most historic Spanish restaurants, located steps from the White House — had plateaued. Organic clicks sat at 803/month. Total queries had barely moved for 12 months. They were competing against well-funded D.C. restaurant groups with significant marketing budgets in one of the most competitive English-language search markets in the world. International SEO in the U.S. market required a completely different approach to what had worked in Colombia.
OUR APPROACH
Deep keyword research for the D.C. fine dining search landscape — identifying underserved intent categories including diplomatic dining, political fundraiser venues, and pre-theatre Spanish cuisine. Rebuilt meta and content architecture around U.S. searcher intent. Structured data overhaul: restaurant schema, event schema for private dining, menu schema. Google Business Profile in English rebuilt from scratch with curated photo programme and response strategy. GEO optimisation targeting queries like “best Spanish restaurant Washington DC near White House”.
THE RESULT
Organic clicks grew from 803 to 2,256/month (+181%). Total queries grew from 1,412 to 2,984 (+111%). Top-3 position queries grew 30% (261 to 339). Monthly impressions reached 96,006 — up from 23,819 at the start of the engagement. The restaurant reached a record of 4,800+ diners in a single month. Growth has been consistent and compounding every month from October 2025 through February 2026 with zero reliance on paid advertising.
